Thieves are targeting power tools around New Plymouth, with five burglaries reported since Christmas.
New Plymouth police are appealing for help after four residential building sites were burgled in the past two weeks.
Yesterday, the Stihl tool shop on Molesworth St was broken into about 1am. Detective Sergeant Gerard Bouterey said there was more than one offender and getaway vehicle involved.
"Entry was gained into the shop after a large front window was smashed and a significant number of power tools were taken."
Police are reviewing the burglaries to identify any similarities between them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Mr Bouterey on (06) 215 4141.
