A teenager who admitted taking intimate video recordings of friends at an Oakura party has received a three-pronged sentence.

In the New Plymouth District Court this morning Jack Greenslade, 18, was convicted and sentenced to four months community detention, 150 hours community work and ordered to pay the victim $5000 emotional harm reparation.

The man and the two friends he filmed were arrested last month after the victim, a 17-year-old girl, complained to police.

In the New Plymouth District Court on November 14 the teen pleaded guilty to a charge of making an intimate visual recording.

One of the teen offender's friends is facing two charges of unlawful sexual connection and one each of rape, indecent assault and making an intimate visual recording.

The other alleged offender is charged with rape, unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault.

Both of the men pleaded not guilty when they appeared in court on November 6 and were remanded on bail with strict conditions and granted interim name suppression.

The Crown summary of facts states that Greenslade was a sober driver on the night and not drinking.

But others were drinking and groups were making trips to and from Oakura's Butler's Reef pub.

Greenslade opened the door to a bedroom where his friends were with the victim, recording them for about 20 seconds before closing the door.

A short time later he took a second video in the bedroom.

The next day Greenslade put up three recordings of the victim on a Facebook page which about 20 close friends and others used to post their ''antics''.

The victim, who has automatic name suppression, did not know he was filming and was devastated by his actions, the summary said.

Greenslade told police initially he thought his actions would be fun and a joke but later felt very remorseful.
