With just two months to go, Womad has released its 2014 schedule.

The World of Music Arts and Dance festival will kick off at 6pm on Friday, March 14 with a performance by Nga Tatarakihi o Parihaka (Children of Parihaka) and Tim Finn on the TSB Bowl stage.

Opening night will close with the much anticipated headliner Kimbra from 10.30pm. She will be performing her only summer gig in New Zealand, and will be there to help celebrate the festival's 10th anniversary.

"It was definitely a deliberate move to get Kimbra. She represents pop rock a little bit and we haven't had a lot of that," Taranaki Arts and Festivals Trust chief executive Suzanne Porter said.

The three-day festival will see 35 acts perform across eight stages from 6pm Friday and 12pm Saturday and Sunday, running all three days until late into the night.

Highlights of day two include Nigerian singer- saxophonist Femi Kuti on the main stage from 10pm, and UK DJ Yoda on the Chimney Stage.

Kiwi artist Hollie Smith will launch day three at lunchtime at the Bowl, followed by Ane Brun, and the Boomerang Project - a collaboration of Scottish, New Zealand and Australian artists.

Grammy Award winning hip-hop group Arrested Development will bring the festival to an end, performing at 8.45pm.

Popular activities such as the Nova Energy Taste the World tent and the Living Library will be back to provide entertainment.

Ms Porter said ticket sales were on par with last year. "Early bird tickets have sold quicker, but we're tracking along as we normally would at this time. We're quite pleased."
