Thieves stole 13 Husqvarna chainsaws from a New Plymouth store early yesterday.
A rear door of the Norwood Farm Machinery Centre on Gill St was jemmied open about 1am, Constable Julie Douglas said.
Ms Douglas said it was not known how many offenders were involved in the burglary but it was believed a vehicle was used to transport the booty.
It was the sixth burglary targeting power tools reported to police since Christmas.
Four residential building sites had been broken into and last week thieves stole a significant number of power tools from The Stihl Tool Shop on Molesworth St.
Ms Douglas said police wanted to hear from anyone who had information about the burglaries or had seen anything suspicious in the area or had been offered cheap power tools.
