Double rescue at motocross ride

The Taranaki Community Rescue Helicopter airlifted two men from a motocross event at Waikawau this afternoon.

LATEST: Two separate accidents at the event on a farm near the South Waikato town left the men, who were both in their late teens, injured.

The helicopter was alerted to the first accident at 1pm and the second accident happened while the helicopter was at the scene.

Both men were airlifted to Taranaki Base Hospital in a stable condition, an ambulance spokesman said.

One man had a broken arm and the other had a back injury.
