Taranaki Rescue Helicopter assignments over the past week:
Wednesday 12.04am: The crew flew from Taranaki Base to Kohuratahi near Whangamomona where a patient was suffering medical complications. The crew used night vision goggles to find the patient, then treated and flew the patient to Taranaki Base Hospital for further treatment.
9am A newborn baby was flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
Saturday 11:50am: Because other regions' rescue helicopters were unavailable the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Tongariro Crossing where a person who had fallen some height from the track was suffering shoulder and facial injuries. The patient was winched to safety and taken to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.
Sunday 1pm: The rescue helicopter flew to Waikawau from Taranaki Base Hospital to pick up two patients who had had separate accidents during a motorcross bike event. One patient had wrist and spinal injuries and the other an arm injury. They were flown to Taranaki Base Hospital for treatment.
