A young man has been killed after plunging 100m down a bank during a motorbike trail ride.

Riley Looker, 17, of Oakura, was one of 200 riders in the organised event at Tarata, near Inglewood yesterday, police say.

He was noticed missing and a friend and the landowner went searching for him, finding him dead near his motorbike down a very steep bank, Senior Sergeant Thomas McIntyre said.

Search and Rescue teams were involved in the recovery of his body due to the steep terrain.
The matter has been referred to the Coroner.

Do you have faith in police solving burglaries?

Yes - there's no faulting their commitment.

Mostly, but they are under-resourced.

Sort of - depends on when and where.

Not really - clearly a low priority for them.

Absolutely not.

Not sure - luckily I've never been burgled.
