A million dollar lottery ticket bought at Westown Lotto has been claimed.
The winners, who want to remain anonymous, were ''local people and also regular customers,'' owner Morrie Collins said.
A story ran in the Taranaki Daily News January 22 issue highlighting the winning triple dip ticket which was sold in Christmas but sat uncollected for more than a month.
Mr Collins said the family had seen the story in the paper but ''did not click'' it was theirs, he said.
But all was revealed when they called in on a Lotto shop in Hawera on their way home from a holiday.
''I'm just so happy it's a local and one of our regulars,'' Mr Collins said. The million dollars was initially thought to have been won by an Australian but a call to Lotto's help desk ensured that was not the case.
