LATEST: The driver of a truck and trailer unit had to be cut out of his vehicle after it rolled at the Northern end of the Awakino Gorge this morning.
A police spokesman said the truck had rolled on the driver's side about 9:25am
He said the driver had minor injuries.
The truck had apparently rolled while going around a corner.
Taranaki Community Rescue Helicopter chief crewman Jayden Strickland said the driver had been trapped inside his truck until fire fighters cut through his windshield to free him.
The road was closed while the man was extracted from the truck.
The rescue helicopter landed on the road and took the man to Waikato Hospital.
