A dog taken during a recent burglary of the Hawera dog pound has been recovered.

Sergeant Lincoln McCrea said the 6-month- old tan and white pitbull had been seized by the council, but they are still on the hunt for a 3-year-old grey beardie cross taken in the February 10 burglary of the South Rd facility.

Mr McCrea said although no arrests have been made the police investigation was ongoing. Anyone with any information can contact Hawera Police on 06 278 0260.
