A man and woman have been arrested on drug charges after a police search located about $10,000 worth of methamphetamine in their possession.

Sergeant Ivan Smith said on Tuesday night Hawera police went to an address after they received a call about a man behaving erratically at the house. Police noticed a man and woman acting suspiciously in a vehicle on the property.

Mr Smith said police searched the car and found ammunition, drug paraphernalia and 12 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The woman, who is in her 30s and from Porirua, was also wanted for arrest because of an outstanding warrant.

The woman, along with a male in his 50s, also from Porirua, appeared in the Hawera District Court on Wednesday and were remanded in custody to reappear on March 4.
