Police are seeking the public's help to catch the culprits who damaged a Pukekura Park mobility buggy.

The vandals broke into a locked shed on Saturday night and stole the eight-seater buggy and took it for a joy ride around the park before ditching it down a bank at the Bowl of Brooklands.

A security camera in the park caught the joyriders in action and police have released pictures to the Taranaki Daily News hoping to identify those responsible.

Sergeant Mark Johnson urged anyone who had information about the theft to contact the New Plymouth Police on 06 759 5500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"I'm certain someone in our community will know who these two people are and we want to speak with them,'' Mr Johnson said. The buggy which is available for people to drive around the park and during Womad was left unusable.
