TSB Bank customers always right

Customers love Taranaki's TSB Bank so much the company has won a national award.

Yesterday the the bank was given a customer satisfaction award for being the financial institution of the year.

TSB Bank came out on top of 35 financial institutions that were in the running for the 2013 Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award for Financial Institution of the Year.

The bank beat out all the big banks and insurance companies.

Kevin Murphy, managing director of TSB Bank, said the achievement was a result of consistently putting customers first.

"It's satisfying to see the customers who bank with us rate us so highly," he said.

"Going the extra mile and providing down-to-earth Kiwi service is what we're about."

Roy Morgan, an independent research company, surveys customers on the different financial institutions in New Zealand on a monthly basis.

The organisation that achieved the most months with a No 1 ranking is named as Financial Institution of the Year.

TSB Bank topped the monthly customer satisfaction survey for 11 out of the 12 months.

"[It] shows you don't have to be big to be better," Mr Murphy said.

While the bank had been enhancing the different ways customers could bank, either online or over the phone, they also retained face-to-face service as well.

"And clearly our customers like what we're doing.

"We're delighted to win this award," he said.
