Police are hunting for two armed offenders who robbed the Challenge service station in Spotswood this morning.

Police are hunting for two armed offenders who robbed the Challenge service station in Spotswood this morning.

The pair, who were wearing disguises and armed with a knife, burst into the service station, on South Rd, about 6.20am.

Detective Byron Reid said the offenders assaulted an attendant before making off with cigarettes and the till which contained an unknown amount of money.

Mr Reid said the culprits were believed to have headed down Pioneer Rd towards Moturoa in a blue Subaru station wagon.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery, and anyone who saw a blue Subaru station wagon or has any information can call the New Plymouth police on (06) 759 5500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
