Animal cruelty among arrests

Hawera police have dealt with several violent offences since Sunday.

A 56-year-old Hawera man was arrested on an animal cruelty charge and a 32-year-old Patea man has been charged with common assault.

Both will appear in the Hawera District Court tomorrow.

A 14-year-old boy from Hawera was also dealt with by police for possessing an offensive weapon. He will be referred to Youth Aid.
