Retirement to the farm has not lasted long for Andrew Hore after the former All Blacks hooker agreed to fly to France this week to trial for Toulon.

Hore's career was believed to be over after he trudged off Aviva Stadium in November for the last of his 83 tests.

The 35-year-old returned to his Ranfurly farm after the All Blacks tour ended, although there was speculation he would make a brief return to playing field after an approach from Irish club Munster to fill in for the rest of the Heineken Cup season.

However, that did not eventuate and Hore has kept a relatively low profile since.

Although the full details are not clear, Hore flew to France yesterday morning to link up with Toulon where he is expected to trial over the next few days.

Toulon sit top of the Top 14 table, equal on points with Clermont Auvergne as the season draws to its business end.

The Heineken Cup is also firmly in Toulon's sights, with their next match against Leinster on April 6.

If Hore did join Toulon he would join former All Blacks Carl Hayman, Ali Williams and Chris Masoe, as well as a host of high profile international players, including Matt Giteau, Bryan Habana, Drew Mitchell, Frederic Michalak and Andrew Sheridan.Former Taranaki wing David Smith is also on Toulon's books.
