A boat believed to belong to a missing Marlborough man has been found.

The Coastguard was seen towing a nine-metre boat into Port Taranaki yesterday, about 7pm.

William Kerry Blair, 55, has not been heard from since he left Erie Bay, in Tory Channel in the Marlborough Sounds, about 4pm on March 8.

His boat was spotted by crew on an air force P3 Orion early on Friday evening, 166 kilometres west-northwest of New Plymouth.

It appeared to be in good condition.

Mr Blair's grieving family said they did not believe he had taken his life.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
