A Stratford woman who assaulted her partner at a birthday party left court yesterday with a good behaviour bond.
Dana Sheree Wilson, 21, pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault when she appeared in the Hawera District Court.
According to the police summary of facts, the assault took place at a Stratford address on March 16.
Wilson went looking for the victim, who she found asleep in a bedroom.
She then woken the victim up by yelling at him.
The victim then left the room and Wilson followed him.
She also pulled on his singlet, ripping it.
When the victim again tried to walk away from her Wilson has then punched him in the left eye.
The victim suffered swelling and bruising to his eye as a result.
Wilson's lawyer Jo Woodcock said the couple were still in a relationship and had sought counselling assistance through the Family Court.
Judge Paul Whitehead said the defendant's previous offending also suggested she may have an alcohol problem.
The judge convicted Wilson and ordered her to come up if called upon in nine months.
She was also ordered to pay $130 in court costs
