The 20-year-old from Waitara was driving the car which pulled up next to a man walking along Devon St East, between Eliot and Hobson Streets about 12.30am on Friday.

Two males got out of the car and attacked the man.

The 42-year-old victim was injured and taken to Taranaki Base Hospital.

Detective Pat Yates said police were still hunting for the two attackers and want to hear from anyone who saw a blue-green Honda Civic near the CBD around midnight. The woman was due to appear in New Plymouth District Court on Saturday.
