A man who suffered serious injuries in a car crash near Waverley was flown to hospital early this morning.
Waverley and Patea fire brigades were first to the scene on Waverley Beach Rd about 1am, Waverley chief fire officer Alan Hickford said.
The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was called to take the injured man, who was the only occupant in the car, to Wanganui Hospital.
The rescue helicoper is currently attending another road crash at Aria, south of Te Kuiti.
The Taranaki chopper is one of two rescue helicopters called out to assist to transport several injured patients to hospital.
