A man who suffered serious injuries in a car crash near Waverley was flown to hospital early this morning.

Waverley and Patea fire brigades were first to the scene on Waverley Beach Rd about 1am, Waverley chief fire officer Alan Hickford  said.

The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was called to take the injured man, who was the only occupant in the car, to Wanganui Hospital.

The rescue helicoper is currently attending another road crash at Aria, south of Te Kuiti.

The Taranaki chopper is one of two rescue helicopters called out to assist to transport several injured patients to hospital.

What do you think of NZC's decision not to host T20 at Pukekura Park?

Typical. Always overlooked in favour of the big smoke

Just shows what a waste of time paying for those nets was

Gutted. T20 at the Park is a new summer tradition

Good call. NZC's got to pay those bills

Pleased. T20 is a bastardized version of the game. Bring on the one-dayers

I hate cricket. Watching grass grow is preferable
