Chairs, desks and filing cabinets are among the furniture donated to help get Taranaki Futures up and running.

About $10,000 worth of office furniture was donated to Taranaki Futures by oil explorer Anadarko, following the closure of its temporary Taranaki operations office.

Taranaki Futures seeks to equip the region's youth with vital skills and first hand industry experience to get them ready for employment.

Futures board member Steve Day said the donation was a "valuable contribution" in not only helping the organisation "build a stronger presence" but would also help the region's youth coming through the programme.

"These guys can now learn in an environment that better resembles a modern office, and when they enter the workforce, to be more familiar and comfortable with their surroundings," Day said.

The furniture was presented to Day by Anadarko Asia-Pacific Exploration manager John Gordon.

"We're really grateful for this assistance and value the contribution immensely," Day said.

What do you think of NZC's decision not to host T20 at Pukekura Park?

Typical. Always overlooked in favour of the big smoke

Just shows what a waste of time paying for those nets was

Gutted. T20 at the Park is a new summer tradition

Good call. NZC's got to pay those bills

Pleased. T20 is a bastardized version of the game. Bring on the one-dayers

I hate cricket. Watching grass grow is preferable
