An elderly woman had to be cut from her vehicle following a two car collision near Normanby this morning.
The Waihi Rd accident, near the Ohangai Rd intersection, happened at about 11am this morning.
Police, fire and ambulance staff attended the scene.
Constable Chris Henry said both drivers involved in the crash were elderly.
One suffered no injuries but the other had to be cut out of her vehicle by fire officers in attendance.
She was then transported to hospital for assessment.
Henry said the accident was possibly caused by the failure of one driver to give way but further investigation was still needed.
He said weather may have also been a factor in the accident, which was the third similar incident police had attended in past last two days.
"We are urging people to take care," he said.
