A 16-year-old boy faces several charges after a police pursuit in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Sergeant Lincoln McCrea said the Hawera teenager was arrested after he allegedly stole a car from Wilson St just after midnight.
Police located him on Glover Rd and a pursuit began of the teen, which travelled about three kilometres through the town.
McCrea said police reached speeds of up to 130km before the offender came to a stop near State Highway 45.
The teen then tried to reverse away from police but backed into a patrol car instead.
He has been charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, two counts of theft, one charge of drink driving, one charge of failing to stop for red and blue flashing lights and other traffic-related matters.
He has been placed on police bail and will appear in Youth Court on Tuesday.
