A Bell Block man was left with serious facial injuries after he was assaulted in his home early this morning.
The 51-year-old was allegedly attacked at 1am.
Senior sergeant Robbie O'Keefe said police found the alleged offender, a 35-year-old New Plymouth man, nearby a short time later.
He was charged with injuring with intent to injure and burglary and will appear in the New Plymouth District Court today.
The victim was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital.
