Hawera High School student shows others how it's done
A Hawera High School student studying at Witt won two awards at the NZ Chefs Taranaki Hospitality Competitions last week.
Justyn Sturmey, who studies at Witt through the 3+2 programme, won both the NZ Chefs Taranaki Creative Cupcakes and Barista sections.
Justyn studies at the Witt training café The Study Break in Hawera on Mondays and Tuesdays.
He was one of more than 80 entrants in the prestigious competition staged at Witt's New Plymouth campus.

Witt is the major sponsor.
New Plymouth Boys' High School students Zac Schwass and Connor Yardley earned themselves a national final place by winning the National Secondary Schools Team Challenge. They will represent Taranaki.
There were 18 classes which equated to about 100 entries across hot kitchen, statics (such as celebration cakes), front of house and barista and the competition was monitored by 30 judges who came from across the North Island.
Hawera campus manager Peter Lang was delighted with the success of the two 3+2 students who competed in New Plymouth, including Shawnie Price who won silver in decorative table setting.
Meanwhile, Witt will be running a café 'fun day' in Hawera on July 10 for people interested in learning more about what Witt does in its food and beverage programme.
"Students and staff will run demonstrations and the public will be invited to come along to the Study Break café at 18 Union St to 'have a go' at things like making espresso coffees and hot chocolates and mocktails," Peter Lang said. "There will be lessons in garnishing, napkin folding, table dressing and some fun competitions too."
