Hospital appals

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Recently I had the misfortune of being a first-time patient in Taranaki Base Hospital and I am disappointed and appalled by the standard of care that I received.

There is a climate of apathy and neglect, and caring staff members are definitely in the minority.

After discussing the hospital with other people I realised that my negative experiences there were commonly experienced by other patients in the hospital.

What use are modern facilities when the patient care is substandard?

I received a much higher standard of care in Waikato Hospital, prior to being transferred to Taranaki Base.
