Webby takes top female award

Taranaki swimmer Charlotte Webby was in outstanding form at the grand prix open finale between Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay in Taupo last weekend.
Webby won the top female athlete award with 775 Fina (international points system) points in her 800m freestyle swim. She also won gold in the women's 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 400m freestyle, as well as silver in the 100m butterfly and 50m butterfly.
Brydie Whitehead broke two Taranaki records – one when winning the 200m backstroke and the other when second in the 50m backstroke. She also won gold in the 100m backstroke as well as claiming bronze in the 200m individual medley.
Other medals winners were: Nikaela Gilmer, gold in 400m individual medley, bronze in 200m breaststroke; Brock Wilson, bronze in 100m butterfly; Martin Weir, bronze in 200m breaststroke; and Julian Weir, bronze in 50m backstroke and bronze in 100m backstroke.
