New Plymouth's Eliot Lundon-Moore has two international swimming competitions in his sights.

New Plymouth's Eliot Lundon-Moore is one of New Zealand eight swimmers competing at the 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games in Apia, Samoa.

The games start on Saturday, with the first of the swimming events on Monday.

The 17-year-old, along with fellow Aquabladz swimmer Zac Reid, 15, have been selected for the New Zealand age group team to compete at the Australian State teams' champs in Canberra, from September 25 to 27.

The event is a team-based competition, in which state teams go head-to-head in a variety of individual and relay events to score points. Age groups for males are 14/15 years and 16/17 years, and age groups for females are 13/14 years and 15/16 years.

Selection was based on the times from New Zealand short course championships, with one swimmer selected for each form stroke, individual medley and the distance freestyle events.

Two swimmers were selected for sprint freestyle in each of the age/gender categories. Lundon-Moore will compete in the breaststroke events and medley relay, with Reid in the distance freestyle events and freestyle relays.

The pair leave for Canberra on September 23, with head of delegation Donna Bouzaid from Swimming New Zealand.
