Taranaki's under-18 women's and men's hockey teams have not got off to the best of starts at their respective national tournaments. The Taranaki under-18 women lost their first pool game in Dunedin on Monday, going down 7-0 to Canterbury, and yesterday they lost 9-1 to Auckland. Taranaki's goal scorer was Lara Williams. Tomorrow, Taranaki plays Wellington. The Taranaki under-18 men's team lost both their games on Monday - 9-1 to Canterbury and 7-0 to Auckland. They had the bye yesterday.

TARANAKI (under-18 women): Ruby Fraser, Tasmin Jury, Isabel Jury, Johanna Avery, Lara Williams, Olivia Cottam, Natalie Boyde, Hayley Ross, Fiona Skene, Erin Rowe, Yvonne Werder, Katie Taylor, Kerryn Jansen and Nikita Kolose- Webby; coach, Glen Taylor.

TARANAKI (under-18 men): Ben Foskin, Miska Silvennoinen, Isa Butler-Mather, Shaun Lawrence, Simeon Oborn, Curtis Boyde, Reese Milham, Matthew Sullivan-Brown, Joshua Andrews, Kieran McLean, Cory Kieft, Aiden Clarke (all Taranaki), Miska West and Brendon Meon (on loan from Lower Hutt); coach, Kieran Foskin.
