The Taranaki under-18 boys' hockey team finished eighth at the national age-group tournament in Dunedin last week, while the Taranaki girls' team finished 11th.

The girls won their first game, beating Hawke's Bay 2-1, but lost their final game against Nelson. The teams were level 3-3 after normal time, with Nelson winning 3-2 after a penalty shootout.

The boys scored their first win on Friday beating Horowhenua 7-5, then drew their last match against North Harbour 2-2, only to lose a penalty shootout.
