New Plymouth Girls' High School topped their pool at the national secondary schoolgirls hockey tournament in Blenheim.

They secured the top spot by beating Chilton St James of Wellington 2-0 yesterday.

Nikita Kolose scored from a penalty corner just before halftime. A second penalty corner strike was disallowed but Kendall Garrud scored within a minute to secure the win.

New Plymouth will play their quarterfinal this afternoon.

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
