New Plymouth Boys' High School's Liam Patterson has been selected in the New Zealand secondary schools orienteering team to compete against Australian states in Tasmania next week.
Patterson has recently returned from competing in the junior world orienteering champs in Slovakia where he placed well in the middle-distance finals.
The Tasmania event doubles as the Australian orienteering champs, with Patterson facing seven days of competition.
For two days, Patterson will compete as a member of the elite grade New Zealand Pinestars team against the Australians.
