The White Ferns, including Taranaki cricketer Kate Broadmore, were in New Plymouth yesterday to give pointers to young players during the New Zealand women's cricket roadshow at New Plymouth's Western Park.

The roadshow had earlier stopped at two girls' secondary schools in the city.

Broadmore and fellow White Fern Sara McGlashan are on the tour promoting the game.

"There was a good mix of girls from the schools' first XI and those that are interested in playing. So that was fantastic," Broadmore said. "The attitude they brought with them was awesome. What we'd like to see now is for them to kick on and keep going."

The roadshow moves to Whanganui today, then on to Wellington before heading up the east coast of the North Island next week.
