An engraver will finally get to put Wanganui's name on the Christie Cup, 48 years since it was last etched on to the trophy.

The visitors comfortably took out the cup tie on Saturday, beating Taranaki 15-9.

Wanganui dominated from the outset, taking four of the six men's singles matches and the top two women's matches.

At the top, Taranaki's Jordan Fleming was beaten by Victor Romero 6-3 6-2, while Wanganui's Paige Hourigan saw off Nicole Koch 6-2 6-1 in the top women's match.

The men's and women's doubles was just as one-sided, with Fleming and Cameron Koch the only pair to take a point off Wanganui when they defeated Romero and Tim McKenzie 6-4 6-3.

Taranaki gained some respectability when they picked up half of the combined doubles.
