Competition leaders Pukekura continued their good early season form with a 15-1 demolition of Okaiawa in Soffe Cup interclub tennis on Saturday.

The visiting south Taranaki team were never given a sniff of victory as Pukekura set a marker early in the singles.

While men's No 1 Callum Old dropped his opening set 5-7 to Andrew Powell, he took control of the remaining two sets 6-3 6-4.

Women's No 1 Louise Waite was more convincing in her singles match against Jaimee Baylis, winning 6-1 6-0.

All bar one of the remaining women's matches were as one- sided, Emma Ussher proving the only exception, taking Okaiawa's only point of the tie with a 5-7 6-2 6-4 win over Jeanette Harding.

Third placed Huatoki were equally as convincing in their tie, beating Oakura 15-1.

Amrit Rai had to battle in his first set in the men's top match before beating Graeme Mitchell 7-6 6-3, while Alice Caskey prevailed in the top women's clash, beating Jackie Keenan 6-1 6-3.

Oakura's only point came in the men's doubles when Mitchell and Craig Waite defeated Rai and Andrew Sangster 1-6 6-4 7-6.

Defending champions Manaia kept pace with Pukekura with a 10-6 win over Rotokare at home.

Jordan Fleming produced the most one-sided match of the tie, winning the men's No 1 match 6-0 6-0 over Malcolm Elder.

Rotokare fought back in the last two matches of the men's singles, Greg Hareb beating Beauden Fleming 6-3 6-4, while Shane Devlin beat Jacob Gopperth 6-2 6-2.

Manaia's Nicole Koch won the No 1 women's match, beating Karen Cranston 6-3 6-4.

The home side's 3-1 advantage in the women's singles became decisive with the doubles and combined doubles fairly even.
