The Central Pulse will take on 2012 champions Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in a pre-season netball match in New Plymouth in February.
In a first since the inception of the ANZ Championship, Taranaki will host the two teams at the 1900-capacity TSB Stadium.
The February 23 game will cap off an exciting weekend of netball activity. Not only will fans have an opportunity to see the players in action, but young netballers will also get the chance to train with Pulse players and learn new skills.
Taranaki year 7 and 8 netballers will play a North v South curtain-raiser on Saturday. After the main game there will be a chance for fans to meet the Pulse and Magic players and get their autographs.
Winners of the "Train with the Haier Pulse Players" competition will take part in one of two netball clinics on the Sunday.
Including the Pulse players, each clinic will cover skills and drills on footwork, space and balance. The sessions are also open to view by the public so everyone gets the chance to pick up a few netball tips.
Netball Taranaki general manager Jacqui Jones said she was delighted that Taranaki was to host the pre-season event.
"Every one of our registered players, officials and teams contributes through their fees to the development and delivery of netball region and nationwide," she said.
"We're delighted that a game at this level is being played in Taranaki and that there is such a strong commitment to community engagement while the team is here."
The game starts at 4pm, with tickets on sale from Friday, December 14, priced at $16.50 for adults and $6.50 for children (2-12 years).
