Oakura almost caused the upset of the season when they pushed competition leaders Pukekura to a two-point win in Soffe Cup interclub play on Saturday.
Pukekura's 9-7 win was in stark contrast to the other ties. Huatoki smashed Rotokare 14-2 and Manaia did the same to Okaiawa.
Defending champions Manaia were clinical in their win but faced minimal resistance.
Nicole Koch was far too good for Jamie Baylis, winning 6-0 6-0, while Jordan Fleming beat Andrew Powell, 6-2 6-2, and Cameron Koch defeated Mark Laurence, 6-1 6-1.
Most of the remainder of the Manaia team members provided sterling supporting roles, winning in straight sets.
The shining light for Okaiawa was in the No 3 women's spot, where Beth MacLeod upset Sarah Kelly, 6-4 4-6 6-2.
Manaia took out the doubles matches easily.
Oakura came close to what would have been a well-deserved draw against the top team.
Pukekura No 1 Kirsten Adam had to go to three sets against Sue Oldfield before winning 6-0 1-6 6-1, while Pukekura No 2 Linda Reid battled to victory over Miaana Walden, 6-3 7-6.
Oakura's Jackie Keenan and Chris Davies pulled two matches back with wins over Jeanette Harding and Chantel Peters.
On the men's side, the mercurial Graeme Mitchell was in commanding form, dispatching Callum Old, 6-1 6-3.
The doubles results were shared going into the combined doubles, with Oakura needing to win three of the final four matches to ensure a tie.
While they won two, it proved a bridge too far.
Huatoki and Rotokare were missing their top two women.
However, Huatoki's Chris Wilson stepped up to give Frances Gray a 6-2 6-2 lesson, while 14-year- old Ellen O'Byrne was equally dominant in her 6-0 6-0 win over Michelle Atkins.
Julie Foley, at No 4, easily accounted for Hannah Trevis, 6-0 6-2.
Rotokare's sole women's win came from Juliet Farquhar at No 3, who outlasted Hikaru Han, 6-4 6-4.
