Hawera left-arm spin bowler Robert Northcott has been called into the Taranaki team to play the Hawke Cup two-day elimination match against Horowhenua-Kapiti in Levin this weekend.
Northcott made his debut for Revital Fertilisers Taranaki in the Chapple Cup limited-overs tournament in Napier in October, when he bowled well.
Northcott, who will be playing his first Hawke Cup match, replaces Andrew Mason, who is unavailable for personal reasons.
Top-order batsman Peter Ingram has been named in the team but suffered a groin strain at team training on Tuesday night.
The former international will undergo a fitness test today to determine whether he will make the trip.
There is also a question mark over the availability of top-order batsman Dean Robinson.
He is waiting on the naming of the Central Districts team to play Otago in a Plunket Shield match in Dunedin, starting on Monday.
Taranaki and Central Districts age-group representative Ricky Ricctelli has been placed on standby.
Returning to the 12 after missing the last-round match because of injury are Leith Johnston and James McDougall.
Johnston's inclusion means Hayden McIntyre, who made his representative debut against Wairarapa this month, misses out.
The surprise omission from the team is Ethan Bolstad, who has been in fine form in premier grade cricket for New Plymouth Marist United since returning from university in Dunedin.
Taranaki head coach Kerry O'Neill said Bolstad had accepted a job in Australia and was heading away soon.
TARANAKI: Dion Ebrahim (capt), Peter Ingram, Dean Robinson, James McDougall, Tom Bruce, Moritz Hartmann, Leith Johnston, Jamie Watkins, Josh Barrett, Robert Northcott, Jackson Braddock, Rob McLeod. Coach Kerry O'Neill.
