Playing out of their age group did not prove a hurdle for several Taranaki junior tennis players at the weekend.

Pukekura's Louise Waite, 13, won the under-14 and under-18 girls' sections in the second annual Naki Racquets Taranaki Junior Summer Open tournament, which was run from Friday through to Monday.

Waite paired up with Huatoki's Alice Caskey to win the under-18 girls' doubles before teaming up with clubmate Holly Pearson to win the under-14 girls' doubles.

Another to enjoy success in more than one grade was Okaiawa's Hamish Mead, who won the under-14 and under-16 boys' singles, as well as the doubles. Ngaitoa's Caitlan Kelly came out on top in the girls' under-10 and under-12 singles.

Pukekura's Tim Neild won the under-14 and under-16 boys' doubles.

The tournament attracted 64 players, including 16 from outside Taranaki.

The next Taranaki junior tournament is the South Taranaki Grand Prix at Manaia over Taranaki Anniversary weekend.

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
