Nigel Hales and Nelson Pulotu won the men's A grade pairs at the 25th Taranaki Beach Volleyball Classic at New Plymouth's Ngamotu Beach on Sunday.

The combined mixed pairs and women's A grade pairs featured eight teams, and some close games were played during the day.

There was a tight clash between Natasha Hales and Sarah Cox against Josh Kenny and Kelsey Lovegrove. Hales and Cox sneaked home in the tiebreaker final set, 15-13, to win the title.
