New Plymouth's Bret John De Faria won the singles section at the Marlin 8-Ball tournament at Mt Maunganui at the weekend, going through nine matches unbeaten.
De Faria beat Tauranga's George Elvin 3-2 in his semifinal before beating Rangi Pirika, of Rotorua, 3-2 in the final.
