Hastings golfer Andrew Henare was in blistering form yesterday, firing nine birdies and an eagle on his way to a 10-under par 62 in the Martinborough Classic.
New Plymouth's Grant Moorhead and Richard Lee, from North Harbour, shared second, four shots back on 66.
Moorhead was six under par through his first eight holes, but mixed a couple of bogeys with two more birdies.
Kaitake's Dominic Barson finished fourth equal on 68.
