Taranaki turned on the weather for the third New Plymouth half ironman on Saturday.
The Wells-sponsored event, which comprised a 2km swim, a 90km bike ride and a 21.1km run, was won by Kinloch's Graham O'Grady in race record time. His time of four hours, three minutes, 56 seconds was more than 10min clear of last year's winner, Brodie Madgwick, from Auckland.
Cambridge triathlete Candice Hammond won the women's race for a third time. Her time was 4hr 36min 17sec.
