Hawera's Seth Colman won the Hawera Cycling Club's senior championship 40km race after a perfectly timed surge to the line in Manaia at the weekend.

It was the first time the 24-year-old had taken the blue-riband event.

In the women's division, it was left to national veteran triathlete Janice McCallum to take top honours for yet another year.

The oldest man on the day, 63-year-old Kevin Lock, had no problems taking out the vet six category.

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
