New Zealand's first hologram was beamed into Vector Arena from Australia by Telstra Clear today, giving the business audience a peek into the future.

Australian talk show host Rove McManus, using the company's new computer network Next IP Network, appeared on stage from Melbourne alongside Telstra Clear chief executive Allan Freeth who hosted the Auckland event.

Audiences could have been forgiven for thinking they were seeing double when musician Che Fu appeared alongside a pre-recorded hologram of himself performing his song Misty Frequencies.

Dr Freeth had previously introduced a pre-recorded hologram of parent company Telstra Corporation chief executive Sol Trujillo. The company could not say when the hologram technology would be commercially available.
