This design concept for a transparent iPad by artist Ricardo Afonso might seem far-fetched and mysterious, but transparent screens are certainly not impossible.
But where are the working parts of this wispy tablet? Apparently, they must be in either those top or bottom sections, which are opaque and seemingly large enough to accommodate iPad innards that are much smaller than those of today's tablets.
However, given the pace of miniaturisation of the iPad, placing all its electronics inside those two tiny spaces is not completely impossible. One thing's certain: battery technology will have to improve to fit inside those miniature confines.
Afonso created a digital 3D model of what he calls a "futuristic tablet concept based on the Apple iPad", and is selling his files on digital media supply company Turbo Squid's website.
If some of the technology inherent in transparent displays we've seen at recent technology trade shows are brought into fruition, this design might be possible by the time the iPad 6 rolls out.
