The Webstock technology-fest, which brings the buzz of Silicon Valley to Wellington, has got bigger again this year, with 875 people registered to attend the two-day conference.

Co-organiser Natasha Lampard said the number was up 25 on last year and included visitors from as far afield as France and Austria. Tickets were now sold out.

Pre-conference workshops have been held through the week and the conference proper opens tomorrow at the Town Hall.

The first speaker will be Clay Johnson, co-founder of the firm that managed Barack Obama's online campaign during his initial bid for the presidency in 2008. He will deliver a speech enigmatically entitled "industrialised ignorance".

Other speakers include former Twitter executive Robin Sloan and Tim Coates, former product head at Yahoo-backed technology incubator Brickhouse.
