Two self confessed "geeks" chose a Wellington internet conference to tie the knot on Valentine's Day.
Australian couple Megan Leonard and Peter Wells were married before delegates at Webstock 2013, which started in the Wellington Town Hall yesterday.
Peter Wells said the couple had always planned to "elope," after originally meeting via Twitter.
"When we saw the conference was on Valentine's Day it all made sense. We're pretty geeky," he said.
The bride wore a green dress, and the groom a dark suit, complete with sneakers.
The Sydney couple had hired a marriage celebrant and told conference organisers of their plan.
In true new media style, the brief ceremony was soon posted on YouTube and pictures were up on photo sharing websites Intsagram and Flickr.
The happy couple received congratulation from friends via Twitter.
"You Twitter people are alright. Thanks for being so lovely, enthusiastic, positive and generally amazing friends. We love all of you," Ms Leonard tweeted last night.
They sent family and friends a heads-up via email, before Ms Leonard tweeted, "I'm getting married in one hour!"
Mr Wells said some of his family "freaked out a little bit," at first.
"But they're all super happy now."
The newlyweds celebrated their marriage with a few drinks at Matterhorn last night.
Webstock spokeswoman Natasha Lampard said delegates were thrilled by the unexpected nuptials.
"They were among their people. It seemed appropriate."
