What did you play this weekend?

Jokermasseffect2I have to admit that the limited amount of time that I spent gaming over the weekend was taken up with continuing to work my way through Mass Effect 2. I'm now into the final missions of the game and hope to finish it tonight, fingers crossed (although I can see Band of Brothers jostling for my attention).

Something that has impressed me about Mass Effect 2 is the dialogue and the comments made by some of the vendors in the Citadel, and some of the off-the-cuff remarks by some of the crew Shepard recruits. They are just hilarious, but of course, with thousands of lines of dialogue, too many to remember ...

Some of my favourite lines are are from the Salarian game seller who laments the decline of the traditional RPG and mentions a game called Grand Terminal Alliances, or something. I'm also loving just about everything that's coming out of Joker's mouth (and a great impression he does of another crew member in the later stages of the game), and this line from Shepard cracked me up after a guard told him he must relinquish his weapons: "I'll relinquish one bullet. Where do you want it?"

For me, great dialogue is crucial for a game to succeed and Mass Effect 2 has it in spades. What is some of the best dialogue you've heard in a game in recent times, and what did you play this weekend?

I finshed Mass Effect 2 with all achievements (sans the insanity one) in the weekend, amazing game. The dialogue is indeed awesome, the Shephard endorsement of Citadel stores for a discount was hilarious ("Im Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite store on the Citadel"). All the bromance with Garrus and Wrex was awesome as well.

Also this weekend I had a friend over to finally help me get 200/200 in Splosion Man (needed to finish the game co-op), and I also went back to Tales of Vesperia to try and finish it off. Ive gone off JRPGs lately but Im trying to catch the bug again. I think its happening, really enjoying Vesperia!

Over the weekend, I played a bit of Assassins Creed 2, and a bit of Rock Band with my new instrument kit (only had a Guitar Hero guitar previously). Man those drums are seriously fun!

Uncharted 2 has some pretty awesome dialog (paraphrasing here due to faulty ROM circuits)

Sully: Lets just follow the hose Nate: Isn't that what got you in trouble in Montreal .. Sully: I'm sweating like a hooker in church Nate: You took a hooker to church? .. **SPOILER ALERT** And my favourite dialog in the entire game **SPOILER ALERT**

Elena: So, on a scale of one to ten, how scared were you that I was gonna die? Nate: Four. Elena: Four?! Nate: Yeah, why? Elena: A four? Nate: Yeah. Elena: You were at least an eight. Nate: An eight? Elena: You were a total eight. Nate: An eight? Those guardian things were an eight. Elena: Are you kidding me? Nate: Yeah, those were terrifying. Elena: Then what's a ten? Nate: Clowns. Elena: Clowns over my death? Nate: I, I hate clowns. Elena: Clowns? Nate: I hate clowns. Elena: Oh my word. You thought I was dead. Nate: No. Elena: No, you thought I was gone. Nate: No. Elena: Yes, you did. Nate: No, I had you all along. Elena: I saw you shed tears. You shed a bunch of 'em. Nate: Tears? Elena: Um-hmm. Nate: It was raining. Elenar: No it was not. Nate: You were unconscious and it was raining. Elena: It was totally sunny out and you were bawling. Nate: It wasn't sunny and you were unconscious. Elena: Whatever, I kept your tears in a jar. I have proof. Nate: I'll give you a five, how's that?

Finished Mass Effect 1 and started Mass Effect 2. Loving it! I am also finding the dialogue hilarious. Much better than the first and quite subtle at times. I am only into the early stages but finding the Miranda character and some of her nasty lines to be very funny.

ME2 feels like a significant improvement on the first one which was fantastic already. Of course I am only 2-3 hours into it so this is first impressions.

Also played a little more Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta - highly enjoyable game. At this stage it seems you can only group 4 players in a squad and play. Not sure how to group larger groups together. Hopefully this is something that changes by release time.

Dragon Age had some great dialouge, just the casual stuff as you where running around, Alistar and Morriagan 'what I suck of his is none of your business' or something along those lines.

I have been playing Heros of might and magic legends on my DS when I can this weekend. Its been a while since a portable game sucked me like this. If you liked puzzle quest I recomend it.
