Let's lighten the tone a little after Monday's blog post, shall we, a post that got a huge number of responses from readers. I read through all the comments over the past two days and was impressed by what people had to say, with a variety of viewpoints.
That's what this blog is all about: generating discussion and letting people have their say, but sometimes I just like to hear what games people have been playing!
I haven't done a lot of gaming over the past few days - day job duties are making sure of that and today is no exception - but on Saturday I finished 2K's Spec Ops: The Line, and while it's not perfect, I found it a thought-provoking look at the other side of modern warfare: the toll that it takes on soldiers themselves.
Master Game Junkie and I finished up Lego Batman 2 DC Superheroes via co-op over the weekend and I've pottered around with some iOS games. The pile of games awaiting review includes The Amazing Spider-Man, the game released to coincide with the new Spider-Man movie, the Ratchet and Clank Trilogy for PlayStation 3, and London 2012, the official game of the London Olympics. And, yes, if you're guessing that it's the usual button-mashing antics that you'd expect with a sports collection, you'd be right.
So, what has been spinning in your PC or console's optical drive lately? Are you, too, playing through Spec Ops The Line? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the game's moral aspects.
Stuff you might also find interesting: Game Junkie is on Twitter and you can email him here. He'll even answer your emails, not get some smart robot to do it. He also has another gaming blog here. It's updated at least once a week.

Still on Diablo 3, gettin pretty annoyed with the grind for gold ... gear ... for the first time in 15 years of gaming I'm tempted to set up a bot. .... it's not ok, especially since everyone else does it ... but it's just crazy how badly Blizzard set up the AH adn RMAH systems.
I played some Max payne 3 in the weekend. FOund it pretty disapointing, bit of a repetative grind.
Other than that ive been enjoying some warhammer 40k: Space marines...pretty fun rampaging through hordes of orcs with a chainsword! and the multi aint too bad either.
Trusty BF3 has been re-100%'d since close quarters so just back to the same old with that now. DOuble XP week is going nicely!
Playing EVE Online. I love my spaceships! I also like that poor connectivity does not render EVE unplayable in NZ since while you have to be alert and quick-ish, you don't have to be snap-reflex fast.
I abandoned World of Warcraft due to a: grind, b: massive unchecked bot use, c: grind, d: latency above 300ms renders most conflict a guaranteed loss, e: grind, f: horrid small children, and g-is-for-grind. Did I mention the agonising life-wreckingly large amount of grind involved in WoW?
I found some people to drag into Star Wars: The Old Republic. So, I've fired up my account again, and ditched WoW for the time being. D3 is all over, red rover for me - killed Diablo once, and that's enough. I'm sure it gets more challenging.. but not into the grind.
My daily staples these days are Halo: Reach and Minecraft. A friend is trying to reach Inheritor before Halo 4 comes out and so I dutiful nut out two or three hours of Team SWAT a night.
Tuesday nights is regular Forza Motorsport 4 night with the NZGamer crew, and a couple of times a week I still chuck Rock Band 3 in and melt the face off my living room.
I started playing the Witcher 2 and then forgot most of what the tutorial taught me by the end of the tutorial. Looks like it could be fun, it'll just take a bit of getting into methinks.
Just finished Witcher 2 on easy difficulty. I felt a bit cheap doing that, but the games backlog was getting too high and I was playing Witcher 2 primarily for the story anyway.
Just started Half-Life 2 for the first time which I'm playing between bouts of ME3 multiplayer.
Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday. Playing as Germany. Successful Sealion two weeks after the fall of France, and everything is looking pretty good for a delayed Barbarossa in spring of 42.
World conquest this time, I think. And it is the first time I've made much use of paratroops. Expensive but very useful, it turns out.
Usual suspects for me.. Gears3, Reach and Diablo3.

Still playing a lot of Battlefield 3 on XBox 360, especially with the new assignments, close quarters DLC and more DLC paid for and set to come in September. the online play is just so incredibly addictive and you can always find new places to hide, things to blow up and tactics for securing an objective.
